Jennifer,
Sorry I have not been on in some time. I have been soooo sick. Hyperemesis gravidarum is severe and persistent nausea and vomiting during pregnancy, sometimes requiring hospitalization. Due to the N/V you may become dehydrated, requiring IV rehydration. I have been sick in bed for the past 42 days. I've been out of the house maybe six times for short periods. One trip was to the nurse practitioner. I HAD to go out for that!
HG causes you to miss work for extended periods of time due to the N/V and exhaustion. Also, you are unable to perform normal household duties, drive, etc. I can hardly ride in the car or be on the internet too long or even read a book. I have never been motion sick before, but this pregnancy has changed me.
This afternoon my husband is going to take me to the Urgent Care Clinic. Hopefully, I will get a few liters of fluid. It's amazing how much better IV fluids make you feel. Of course, I know I will get sick on the way there. I've learned to carry my big pink basin with me everywhere I go!
: Hi Deanna, congrats on the pregnancy! What is hyperemesis gravidarum?
:
: : I'm about 12 weeks along...first appointment this Wednesday...FINALLY!! I have been so sick I have been in bed for the past 25 days and only out of the house 3 times which is about how many times I've been out of my pajamas.
: : I'm an RN too and have looked further into hyperemesis gravidarum which it appears I may be straddling the fence on. It's been a rough road.
: : My question here is...I never remembered my dreams before I was pregnant. Seems like I am dreaming and remembering so much more than I can imagine. Weird thing is that my husband has been doing the same thing! Has this happened to anyone else?
