Hi, I am writing this in the hope that someone might have some new suggestions to help my wife (karen) get thru severe morning sickness. She has so far been admitted to hospital 5 times with hyperemisis, she is 15 weeks and is basically confined to bed and is unbelievably depressed as a result. Prior to this pregnancy (her first) she was a very active person and has now been suffering for 8 weeks. She has been prescribed Zofran, has tried sea bands, acupunture and every 'old wives' tale that has been suggested. Nothing has worked. The Zofran seems to take the edge off but she is still unable to move around for more than 10 minutes at a time before she needs to return to bed. She lost weight early on and has recently put on about 1.5 kilos. I could keep going on, but I hope that someone might have been thru something similar and could suggest something that worked for them. We have had the 13 week scan and the baby is doing very well by all accounts.
Thanks for reading and I look forward to any help. Cheers Simon |

I wish I could help! Umm let me think.. What about sea bands? I took Zofran and it helped. I also took Phenagren but it makes you really sleepy. I had 24/7 sickness and lost 14lbs at first. Mine sickness has finally eased up alot and is almost gone. I hope your wife finds something that helps her. Ask her doc about changing meds.

Hi Simon, I was suffering terrible from m/s until some of the ladies told me to get a Homeopatic Remedy (specially for M/S) called NUX Vomica 6X. You can find at any heath store. Midwifes and homeopatics doctors say it's ok to take (since it's a remedy for M/S). I sent my husband to get some and has been helping me.
I hope your wife feels better soon...M/s is not fun at ALL!!!!!!!!!! |

Hi Simon:
I had some serious morning sickness for the first 2 weeks of my pregnancy, I am now on Diclectin and boy it works wonders. Maybe that can be something you read up on and if they prescribe it where you live.

| Hi Simon. Sorry to hear about your wife being so sick, but I know exactly how she feels. I too was hospitalized several times with my pregnancies. They gave me several bags of iv fluids each visit as well as zofran through the iv. The zofran did take the edge off while I received it through the veins but it didn't work much for me by mouth so thats why I had to keep going back to the hospital. Sometimes for just a 24 hour visit and sometimes for like 4 days! Believe me it is very depressing and hard! Unfortunately nothing really worked except time! Give her a lot of support and be understanding! Goodluck! |

Hi Simon.
My suggestion to you is do something for your wife, give her flowers or something, let her know that you care and that you are there for her that could help with her depression some. And with the morning sickness I would suggest eating something cold like fruit that usually sets well on anyones stomach. normally when your feeling sick hot foods will make u nausious. Good luck and I hope youre wife gets to feeling better.
