I found out I was pregnant a week ago, I'm 6 weeks. My husband and I thought I just had a bad case of the stomach flu, but after a week of it and not getting any better, I went to the doctor and found out I was pregnant. We weren’t trying for a baby, but we’re so excited now. Anyway I know morning sickness is common in pregnancy, but I need to know if what I am going through is normal because it’s kinda scaring me. I’m nauseous 24/7 but its worse when I get up in the morning and am about to go bed and no matter what I try I can’t get rid of it. I have no appetite and I can’t stand being around food most of the time, but I’m still eating because I know how important it is, just not as much. I’ve been having dizzy spells and I’m throwing up a lot, at least 3 sessions a day, sometimes it gets so bad I can’t seem to catch my breath. And after I get sick the nausea gets worse not better. I’ve already missed 3 days of work this week and I don’t know much more of this I can take. I never would’ve guessed pregnancy would be this difficult.

Hi, sorry to hear you are having a bad time but yes it is normal. I had morning sickness until i was 6 months pregnant but usually it goes by 3 months pregnant. Go and see your doctor because there are tablets you can take to ease the sickness. I was getting married when i was 3 months pregnant and didn't want to be sick walking down the aisle so they really helped me. Good luck and it will get better eventually.

I'm 8 weeks preegnant and also going though a lot of morning sickness. I walke around with saltine crackers but I'm finding that doesn't help very much. My gf suggested I try taking vitamin E. Just wondering if any one has heard of that? I also found these online:
http://thefertilityshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=165

and was wondering if anyone had tried those? HELP!!!!!

Hey yes this is VERY normal. It's called hyperemisis. I had it like you wouldn't believe! I threw up from the time I woke up in the morning...well actually I threw up all night too! I couldn't look at food, smell food, be around food, or even talk about it without getting sick. I couldn't eat for about the first 5 months of my pregnancy, so they put me on a permanant IV called a PICC line and fed my baby through TPN (Total parentaral nutrition) which is a liquid form of everything needed to maintain a healthy lifestyle. (calcium, zinc, iron, etc..) my doctor also prescribed me nausea medication, which did not seem to work. I tried Anzemet, Compazine, Tygant, and then finally he had to prescribe something stronger. I started taking Zofran which is a medication that cancer patients take before getting radiation or chemo so they don't get nauseas. That worked for about a month and then stopped working. Ever since I have been on another cancer med called Kytril which has been working pretty well so far. I'm 37 weeks pregnant and I still have hyperemisis! It probably won't last for you, because it only last throughout the whole pregnancy for about one in every thousand women. So I got you covered! haha. Theres no need to worry, but make sure you talk to your doctor he may be able to prescribe something that will work for you. and don't worry, these medications are made for pregnant women so it won't harm your baby. My baby is HUGE, we thought he would be underweight because of all the problems I went through. (I also had pancreatitis and gall stones in my 6th month and was on multiple medications and could not eat until my pancreatic enzymes were back to normal, which took 9 days in the hospital) But he's a big boy for 37 weeks he weighs 7 lbs 3 ounces so far. If he goes to 40 weeks he's gunna be a 10 pounder!
Anyways I hope this helped-- dont be worried!

Ashley
